Trail Blazers

Trailblazers, like the name suggests, is all about blazing trails! When I was a Trailblazer, I constantly found myself “going beyond,” pushing myself to my limits, and exceeding my own expectations. As a Trailblazer, I was able to try some really cool and exciting new things—things that I didn’t do while I was at the Junior and Upper Camps. For example, I pushed myself to try the high ropes course; I learned how to kayak; and I experimented with wax sculpting. All of these experiences were incredible! And just like in Junior and Upper Camp, the Trailblazer counselors and specialists really gave me a lot of attention and help—trying to make sure that I always did my best.

The other way that we blazed trails in Trailblazers was by actually leaving camp! That’s right—leaving camp! What I mean is that one day every week we left Stonybrook and hit the road. We went to baseball games, plays, musicals, and water parks, and we also got to go tubing, rafting, and kayaking.

One of the best things that I got to do as a Trailblazer was a trip to the Mountain Creek Water Park. It was terrific! The waterslides at Mountain Creek are actually built into the mountain, and they have a lot of great water rides. My favorite, though, was definitely High Anxiety. This is water ride that I went on in a giant raft with 3 of my best friends. The ride is basically a huge funnel that soaks you with water, spins you around in the funnel, and then shoots you out the bottom. It was totally fun and kinda scary all at the same time.

You can count on having a great time in Trailblazers—encountering new challenges, embarking on new adventures, and surprising yourself at every turn.

I’ll see you on the trail.
